Rates are quoted per 1 US dollar. Claude does the conversion, cross rates, tables and charts from there. The connector is read-only.

Signing in only tells the connector which BoB account is asking, so that account's limit applies. It gives the connector no access to your forms, files or chats. Limits reset at the start of each hour.

Currency Rates BoB is a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Any client that supports remote MCP servers can use this URL:

Questions
Is Currency Rates BoB free?
Yes. It works without an account from a free pool of 5,000 requests an hour that everyone who is not signed in shares. If the pool is used up, Claude offers to sign in with a BoB account, which has its own 100 requests an hour. BoB Pro and BoB Max raise that to 5,000 an hour.
Do I need an account or an API key?
No. Open the connector page in the Claude directory, hit Connect and ask about rates. Sign-in is offered only when the shared free pool is used up for the hour.
Which currencies are supported?
140 currencies today: world currencies from the US dollar, euro and yen to the Thai baht, Georgian lari and Turkish lira, plus Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP. Ask Claude to list the supported currencies to see the current set.
How far back does the history go?
Daily history (low, high, average, open and close for each day) starts in January 2026 and is kept permanently. Hourly data points are available for recent periods, up to 31 days per request. Ask Claude how far back the data goes for a currency to get the exact dates.
Can it convert between two currencies that are not the US dollar?
Yes. The connector quotes every currency per 1 US dollar, and Claude works out the cross rate from the two quotes, so a question like 250 EUR in Japanese yen works as is.
What does signing in give the connector access to?
Only which BoB account is asking, so that account's hourly limit applies. It gives the connector no access to your forms, files or chats.
Are these rates suitable for trading or accounting?
They are reference rates for information. A bank, card or exchange will apply its own rate and fees, so check with them before a financial decision.
Does it work outside Claude?
Yes. Add the server URL https://mcp-currency.bob.tools to any client that supports remote MCP servers, such as Claude Code.
